Send your submission to Editorial@MeridianPublishers.com with "Submission" followed by your book category in the subject line (for example: "Submission — Medical Books"). Include a cover letter, a synopsis or structured abstract, and either the first three chapters or a detailed book proposal with one sample chapter. We read every submission personally and respond within eight to twelve weeks. Full submission guidelines are available in our Submissions section above.
Meridian publishes across eight Amazon KDP categories: Medical Books, Health & Wellness, Business & Money, Self-Help & Personal Transformation, Education & Teaching, Science & Research, Biographies & Memoirs, and Literature & Fiction. We are particularly strong in medical and surgical textbooks, clinical reference works, leadership and professional development titles, and academic monographs — but we welcome quality work across all our categories.
Neither, exactly. Meridian is a curated, editorially driven independent publisher that uses Amazon KDP as its primary distribution infrastructure. We operate with the editorial standards of a traditional publisher — rigorous developmental editing, professional design, structured marketing — but with the speed, global reach, and author-friendly economics of the KDP ecosystem. Authors retain significantly higher royalties than traditional publishing while receiving the editorial support that distinguishes quality from self-published mediocrity.
From accepted manuscript to published book, our standard timeline is twelve to eighteen months. This allows for developmental editing (3–6 months), line and copy editing (6–8 weeks), design and typesetting (4–6 weeks), proofing and production (3–4 weeks), and launch preparation. We can compress this timeline for time-sensitive projects, but we do not shortcut quality. The process exists to make your book better — not faster.
Meridian offers author-favourable royalty arrangements that reflect the economics of Amazon KDP publishing. Specific terms vary by category, format, and project scope, and are discussed openly at the acquisition stage. We do not ask authors to pay for editorial services — all editing, design, and production costs are carried by Meridian. Royalty rates are typically significantly higher than traditional publishing contracts because of the more efficient cost structure of the KDP model.
Absolutely. Meridian welcomes first-time authors, and a significant portion of our catalog will consist of debut titles. What matters to us is the quality of the work, the credibility of the author's expertise in their field, and the clarity of the book's purpose. A consultant surgeon with deep clinical experience writing their first book is exactly the kind of author we want to work with. Prior publication history is helpful but not required.
Yes. Our Science & Research category specifically supports edited academic volumes, research monographs, and specialist texts. We work with academic authors to adapt research findings into formats that reach both specialist and generalist audiences without compromising scholarly rigour. For peer-reviewed work specifically, we coordinate with external reviewers and ensure that our editorial process preserves the integrity of the underlying research.
Every Meridian title is published in both paperback and Kindle editions as standard. Hardback editions are produced for selected titles, typically medical textbooks, academic references, and special editions where the physical object carries particular weight. Through Amazon KDP's print-on-demand infrastructure, your book ships from local facilities in the US, UK, Europe, Japan, Australia, and Canada — ensuring fast delivery to readers anywhere.
Our primary publishing language is English, but we actively pursue translation rights for our titles into Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Mandarin, Hindi, and other languages through international publishing partnerships. If you are an author writing in another language, please contact us to discuss whether your project might fit with our translation and co-publishing programme.
Yes, and we consider marketing support part of our core publishing commitment. Every Meridian title receives pre-launch audience development, category and keyword strategy, Amazon listing optimisation, review solicitation, and at least twelve months of post-launch marketing support. However, author platform and engagement remain critical — the most successful marketing campaigns are ones where the author is actively involved in connecting with their readership.
Booksellers can order Meridian titles through standard Amazon KDP distribution channels. For bulk orders, institutional licensing, course adoption, or library consortia pricing, please contact us directly at Editorial@MeridianPublishers.com with "Trade Order" in the subject line. We offer negotiated pricing for quantities of twenty copies or more and can arrange custom editions for corporate training, medical education, and institutional subscriptions.
Meridian's editorial operations are based in the United Kingdom, with an international distribution footprint across 48 countries via Amazon KDP. We deliberately operate as a distributed organisation, which allows us to work with authors, editors, designers, and collaborators worldwide. Our editorial meetings happen online, our book fairs happen internationally, and our readers live everywhere. The physical location of a publisher matters less than its editorial standards.
